Last day of head construction. One page done at the plater collection.

Here is the page I am submitting for week 3 of the class.

Overall, I am happy with this week. It was difficult at the beginning but I got more comfortable in the end.

Heads construction again. One hour lunch break at the plaster cast collection.

And then one hour at the live figure drawing session. Did them on large sheets and had to take pictures with my iphone.

I feel I have a better understanding of the process than yesterday, but the heads still look barely human.

Went to the plaster collection to draw some heads during lunch break.

Huge issues with jaw shapes and eye sockets. Will look at Michael samples to try to better understand what's incorrect. Hope I can fix the issues before saturday. If you see something wrong I do every time, just let me know.

Construction number 11 and 12. Thirteen remaining until tomorrow. Decided to use a soft pencil.

Did 5 construction without process decomposition. Very difficult for me.

Did only 1 construction today. Need to practice more the perspective construction because it's quite a mess a this stage.

Second attempt at week 2 homework, with a page where I show the 4 steps (gestures, masses, landmarks, perspective). At this stage it make the problem more tractable I think.

Failed the legs completely but I think it's an improvement. On the drill front, tetromino, cylinders and wrapping drills:

First attempt at week 2 homework. Gestures + shapes + connections + landmarks + torso/arms/legs perspective. It doesn't look very good. Will need to do 25 of this before friday. This is going to be challenging. With this first attempt, I have at least a benchmark to measure progress.

Did more gestures today than usual. 17 left to do to complete week 1 homework. Pentel  Brush Pen is definitely helping me using less line to do my gestures. This is an improvement. Still a lot of failed gestures but here are the one I am happy with:

What I feel I could improve is the gestures flow, the transition between line is a bit to abrupt. And I still unsure how to gesture the legs properly.

Did my 10 gestures using a pentel pocket brush and it made interesting line variation.

The initial lines have a lower value because the pocket brush was not fully loaded with ink.

Continuing week 1 homework with 10 gestures at the Plaster collection. I need 2-5 minutes per gesture, still a bit too slow. Will have to speed up if I want to reach 100 before saturday.

This actually a kid strangling a goose !

As for the drill, only one page of tetromino.

Still struggling with the gesture homework. I did this after watching the lecture video. Not very happy about today's gestures. Too many lines. I did 10 today from the Plaster Cast collection. Here is the best I could do

Did 10 gestures from characterdesigns.com. More difficult to do than from the plaster cast collection. I kept messing the head/body proportions.

Did two pages of drills, one tetromino rotation page (very challenging for me) and one page of arcs.

Half a session (45 min) life figure drawing today. I focused on the proportions and perspective, 5-7 minutes by sketch. This are my two best.
