Dumper

Had great plan today: sketching the gigantic excavator at a nearby construction site. But as Von Moltke said it "No battle plan survives contact with the enemy". And to make a long story short, I settled for a simpler side view of a dumper

On the drill side, one page of boxen, one page of tetromino.

Reach Stacker and Steam Roller

One hour a the Transport museum. Temperature was ok so I could sketch outside. Spend most of my time on two objects: a steam operated steam roller from 1912 and a huge reach stacker.  Not too happy about the sketches tough. Cut to many corners. I couldn't deal with the complexity of the steam engine. And the huge size of the reach stacker put me off. But very interesting objects to draw.

1929 car

I spent an hour at the automobile building of the Swiss Transport Museum. Cars are presented on the walls, this make some awkward perspective. This is the only decent sketch I could manage. I had forgotten how difficult cars are to draw.

Excavator

Short sketch of an excavator on a mound. Will need to work on the arm.  Challenging!

On the drill side, box in perspective again.

Locomotives and Numbers

Usual visit a the Verkhershaus today. Had fun with drawing the numbers painted on some locomotives. 

Small Excavator

A toy excavator on wheels, straight from the personal collection of you know why. Had issues with the arm :)

Locomotive Thumbnails

Today at the Transport museum, I just wanted to do as many locomotives as possible on one page. Not too thrilled about the result but it was a nice session. These are mostly electrical locomotives.

Wheels Attempts

Tried to do some toy wheels today. This will definitely need more milage ;)

Small Toy Bulldozer

Quick thumbnails of a toy bulldozer.  Sketching is very limited right now ;( Wheels are killing me, again.

Wolver Toy

Sketched a toy again. Got lost halfway doing the construction but somehow I could complete it ;).

Genf Locomotive

Did a page on the "Genf" locomotive, which is the oldest original locomotive in Switzerland right now. It's not my best sketch I have done at this museum but it was a relaxing sketch session. 

Wooden toy truck

Spent a lot of time looking a this toy wooden truck. Was a bit hesitant on the rendering side. Cross hatching is the last thing you want to rush. Had problems creating enough contrasts with the shadow so I had to add a bit of marker but it was not my intention. Another day, another sketch ;)

I will have no time to visit museum this week, so I will work on objects laying around.

Planes and balloons

Tried to sketch at the plane section of the transport museum. Had forgotten how hard planes are to draw. They were a lot of planes but most of them where hanging from the ceiling so the perspective was very awkward for me.  Will need to work offline on this ;) Retreated with balloons. It was not my best week-end from a sketching perspective ;)

Toy truck

Did a small sketch of a toy truck. Unfortunately no museum visit this week end. Tried to be patient on this one.

Two locomotives

Sketched two locomotives at the transport museum of Luzern. I bought a portable seat and it definitely helped me have a more steady line quality. The reason for the shunting loc to be so short is to gain space. At this period it was important, for example on the turntable. Last week, I did another shunting loc that had the same profile.

Model H Tractor

This is a very old rusted tractor in a barn close to where I live. I found out more on TractorData.com. It's from 1953. Had a lot of trouble with the wheels and the overall 3/4 perspective. I also could not communicate the "personality" of this tractor. But I am glad I attempted it.

I plan to practice the wheels a lot more because it's getting embarrassing !
