Spent a lot of time looking a this toy wooden truck. Was a bit hesitant on the rendering side. Cross hatching is the last thing you want to rush. Had problems creating enough contrasts with the shadow so I had to add a bit of marker but it was not my intention. Another day, another sketch ;)
I will have no time to visit museum this week, so I will work on objects laying around.
Good call on the marker! You probably wanted a softer effect? This one pops and makes a good drawing even better. My eyes go straight to the toy. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour perspective lines seem to be very precise, impressive assuming you do not use a vanishing point and straightedge.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget color, occaisionally.
@Dmitri.. thank! .well, these markers are too convenient for my own good. I realize the sketches look good but I am getting rusty with the cross hatching.
ReplyDelete@Steve..Thanks! I am also happy with the perspective on this one, except for the wheel which are a bit strange. What definitely helped is drawing a lot of boxes from life and doing straight line exercises. Also there is a trick to see mistakes more easily: look a the box upside down: the mistakes will be more apparent.
