Spend an hour at the voliere today. I have done several pages of "gestures" but it was more pages of scribbling. It was just after feeding so the toucans were very active and it was impossible to draw them properly. Here is the last page I have. I have added markers at home afterwards. I cannot do the eyes properly, leaving them mostly white or plain. It gives them a kind of zombie stares ;=
Very cool, louisC! The gestures are excellent and great idea to use the marker: values made the birds feel solid.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Markers are definitely very efficient for creating values. I need to find a good way to put the hightights. What did you use for that in DS? Was it gel pen? which brand?
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was a Pentel Arts Sunburst white gel pen. Good pen, but only worked well to depict very shiny surfaces: plastic, chrome, scales, eyes, etc. For feathers, metals and surfaces with more diffusion, I was using a white prismacolor pencil. Applying it with a broad stroke (positioning the pencil at a very sharp angle to the paper) gives very good results.
