Recovery sketching at Succulent Plant collection. Attempted a large plant but got lot in the middle of it. 

Mammut Skeleton

Attempted a mammut skeleton today. Was difficult. Will try it again next time.

Toucan

Spent my session at the voliere, trying to sketch a toucan that was posing for me. Had really a lot of trouble. With the 3d shape of the beak/head. So this is not worth posting, even by my low standards. But I can post these quick toucan head studies I did from reference when I came back home. I am interested to see if it helps my toucan life drawing.

Dragon key ring

Sketched the small dragon on a car key ring.

Locomotive Thumbnails

Today at the Transport museum, I just wanted to do as many locomotives as possible on one page. Not too thrilled about the result but it was a nice session. These are mostly electrical locomotives.

Office Stuff

Had to be at work this saturday. Nobody around!

Wheels Attempts

Tried to do some toy wheels today. This will definitely need more milage ;)

Small Toy Bulldozer

Quick thumbnails of a toy bulldozer.  Sketching is very limited right now ;( Wheels are killing me, again.

Birds

Spend an hour at the voliere today. I have done several pages of "gestures" but it was more pages of scribbling. It was just after feeding so the toucans were very active and it was impossible to draw them properly. Here is the last page I have. I have added markers at home afterwards. I cannot do the eyes properly, leaving them mostly white or plain. It gives them a  kind of zombie stares ;=

Wolver Toy

Sketched a toy again. Got lost halfway doing the construction but somehow I could complete it ;).

Genf Locomotive

Did a page on the "Genf" locomotive, which is the oldest original locomotive in Switzerland right now. It's not my best sketch I have done at this museum but it was a relaxing sketch session. 

Mechanical Toy

So today was in a hurry. Just had time to do quickly this sketch of a toy. Don't know what is it exactly.

Succulent Plants + Markers

I experimented with markers today at the succulent plant collection. I choose plants with simple forms. I think the first one is ok, but the other are less successful. 

Stabilo 88

A minimalist update today. Just a basic ink/watercolor sketch of the Stabilo 88, the cheapest fineliner available here.  I use pack of them to do my line exercises.

House

Could not leave my desk the whole day. So I sketched the house on the other side of the street when I had a bit of time. No proper finish on this one. I will revisit later this building when I have more time.

Swiss Kitchen objects

Filled up a page of objects from my kitchen. Here are the two best:

The classical swiss fondue kit, every self respecting swiss household has one in his kitchen.

The Crepe Party, not so swiss. Very convenient if you have friends coming over. 

Wooden toy truck

Spent a lot of time looking a this toy wooden truck. Was a bit hesitant on the rendering side. Cross hatching is the last thing you want to rush. Had problems creating enough contrasts with the shadow so I had to add a bit of marker but it was not my intention. Another day, another sketch ;)

I will have no time to visit museum this week, so I will work on objects laying around.

Planes and balloons

Tried to sketch at the plane section of the transport museum. Had forgotten how hard planes are to draw. They were a lot of planes but most of them where hanging from the ceiling so the perspective was very awkward for me.  Will need to work offline on this ;) Retreated with balloons. It was not my best week-end from a sketching perspective ;)

Locomotives

Quick session at the transport museum. Will clean the page up and scan it properly tomorrow when I am back at home.

Plaster casts

In the basement of the Archelogical Museum, there is a huge plaster cast collection. Fantastic stuff to draw. I was amazed by the size of the collection. Did quickly some gestures. Will definitely comeback.

Stuffed birds

Short session at the zoological museum. They have a huge collection of stuffed birds. Focused on doing only quick layins to do as much birds in the short amount of time (<30min). It's really too bad this museum is too far from work, would visit it more often.

Sow and Piglets

Ikea has a very nice collection of cloth farm animals. My son happens to be in possession of the complete set. Here are mommy pigs  and here three piglets.

I understood too late that the Stabilo 88 are not waterproof!

Bird Skulls

The Voliere has a small bird skull collection. Very interesting to draw. Played a little bit with the markers and gel pen. Still issues with the consistency of the lighting. And I still don't understand properly the empty spaces in the skull. It's quite complex.

Succulent plants

Succulent plants again. Very relaxing to draw.  

Toy truck

Did a small sketch of a toy truck. Unfortunately no museum visit this week end. Tried to be patient on this one.

Toy Plane

No visit to the transport museum. So I tried to sketch this toy plane. Lost patience on the 3/4. This type of sketching is not something to do in a hurry. I posted it 25 minutes before midnight, the sketch a day streak is preserved ;)

Electricity

Aimless page today. Started in a waiting room finished at my desk. Cross hatched here and there without much conviction. Tomorrow will be a better sketching day.
